Each chip has a number on it or has a number on the motherboard. In the image below The orange chips at the top are capacitors. Sometimes these short and need to be replaced. Can you see the integrated circuit chip with the number 4834 ?

This chip sometimes needs to be replaced In the below images we are carrying out the repair on this board.

In the above image we have removed the integrated circuit chip and are replacing the chip with another chip of a similar motherboard.

This laptop now boots up and works perfectly.

Some capacitors that short out are very small our skilled team of engineers can replace these with the skill needed for a perfect repair. Below is a removed capacitor its maximum length only 1mm

Even the tweezers look huge in the image below. We have place a two penny piece to give you an idea of scale.

These integrated circuits often die because of wrong voltages being sent to these chips. On the motherboard there are power manager chips that send voltages around the motherboard ie 1.8 volts to the processor 5 volts to the cdrom and so on. If the wrong voltages are sent around the board some capacitors can only take a certain voltage and integrated circuits may just short out.
